Churros Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Churros:
- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Vegetable oil, for frying
For the Cinnamon-Sugar Coating:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Optional Chocolate Sauce:
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 oz dark chocolate, chopped
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough: In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and 2 tbsp oil. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a smooth ball.
Heat the Oil: In a deep pan, heat about 2 inches of oil to 375°F (190°C).
Pipe the Churros: Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil, using scissors to cut the dough from the tip.
Fry the Churros: Fry each churro for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Coat with Cinnamon-Sugar: In a shallow dish, mix sugar and cinnamon. Roll the warm churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
Optional Chocolate Sauce: For a chocolate dipping sauce, heat heavy cream in a saucepan until warm. Pour over chopped chocolate and stir until smooth.
Serve: Enjoy the churros warm, with or without chocolate sauce.
